  6. neighborhood; in Brooklyn, N.Y. A member of the mob that cornered
  7. and killed Yusuf K. Hawkins, 16, Vento had agreed to be a witness
  8. in exchange for immunity. But he fled the city rather than
  9. testify against his friends, and later agreed to stand trial. He
  10. has already been convicted of unlawful imprisonment and menacing.
